Veterans and Active Military Housing Support
Resources and Information.
Designed for Veterans.
In 2024, New Jersey Realtors® established the Active Military and Veterans Presidential Advisory Group to support and protect active military and veterans during the home buying and selling process. The PAG—consisting of active military and veteran members—aims to educate Realtors® and active military and veteran clients about the Veterans Affairs Home Loan product. The VA home loan process is often misunderstood, so it’s crucial to inform all parties.
Below you’ll find a number of resources and supportive information for Realtors® to use when working with active military and veteran clients in their home buying or selling journey.

VETERANS GUIDES
When applying for a VA Home Loan, the appraisal process is required, while a home inspection is optional—but highly recommended. A home inspection provides a more detailed report on the property's systems and components. In contrast, an appraisal focuses primarily on estimating the home's value and determining whether it meets the VA's minimum property requirements.
