Local Win in Hackettstown Stalls C.O. Requirement

Hackettstown considered implementing a new requirement to obtain a Certificate of Continuing Occupancy to sell a home or business in town. If not carefully designed, municipal Certificates of Continuing Occupancy can contribute to rising housing costs and an increased financial burden on property owners.

Working with the Warren County Board of Realtors®, New Jersey Realtors® reached out to and met with the town’s mayor to express our concerns about adopting a Certificate of Continuing Occupancy ordinance. In response, the Council voted not to introduce the requirement in Hackettstown.
