Scholarships Awarded to Exceptional Students

This summer New Jersey Realtors® Educational Foundation awarded $53,700 in scholarships to 39 students pursuing a college education.

Since 1969, the NJ Realtors® Educational Foundation has awarded scholarships to hundreds of deserving students that are enrolled or will be enrolled in an undergraduate program. The selection process for these students included their academic achievements, financial need, interest in real estate endeavors, and contributions to family, school, and communities.

Normal Lubeck

Norman Lubeck, Realtor® Emeritus, of Berkeley Heights passed in April this year. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and a U.S. Army Veteran. Lubeck came to the real estate field with a background in construction and experience on Wall Street. He started his career with the Holmes Agency in Summit as well as Summit Stonehaus before establishing Woodward Properties Realtors® with his wife, Roberta and son Robert. Active in International Real Estate and Relocation, he and Roberta operated Berkeley Relocation. Lubeck served as President of FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, USA New York/Northeast Council as well as serving as President of the NY Metro Group of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. One of Lubeck’s favorite activities was his service as a Trustee of New Jersey Realtors® Educational Foundation. Having five children he enjoyed great satisfaction in participating in the awarding of scholarships each year to students to further their education.

He always had a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye for anyone he encountered.

Gene Azzalina

Gene Azzalina, New Jersey Realtors® Past President, of Elmwood Park formerly of Hasbrouck Heights and Lodi passed in December. Azzalina was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Corporal and a Medic. He was a former member of the V.F.W. Post in Lodi and the American Legion Post in Elmwood Park. Before retiring, Azzalina was a Realtor® and owner of Centennial Real Estate in Elmwood Park and previously, he was a lineman for PSE&G. In 1979 he served as President of the Multiple Listing Service in Central Bergen, and President of the Central Bergen Board of Realtors®. In 1993, Azzalina served as President of New Jersey Realtors®.
